Consolidation accelerates in the aftermarket wheel industry; compliant forged wheel manufacturers seize supporting markets for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Porsche.

Market supervision over auto tuning parts has been tightened in 2026. As one of the most frequently modified components, wheels are subject to strict quality inspection control. Manufacturers producing inferior cast wheels without load certifications or non-standard dimensions are being phased out continuously. Forged wheel enterprises with complete testing qualifications have secured vehicle-specific matching orders for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Porsche, leading to growing polarization within the industry.

New regulations mandate that aftermarket wheels must be marked with load index, PCD, ET offset and CCC certification logos. The production of ultra-thin and extreme-offset non-standard wheels is prohibited to eliminate safety hazards such as high-speed vehicle vibration and tire blowouts.

Field visits to China’s two major wheel manufacturing clusters reveal that more than 50 low-end cast wheel factories suspended production in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, manufacturers specializing in one-piece and multi-piece forged wheels for German car models reported a 58% year-on-year order growth.

Leading manufacturers adopt precise mold development based on vehicle-specific parameters, covering BMW 3 Series to 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class/GLE/G-Class, full Audi A/RS lineup, and Porsche 718/992/Macan. Services include OEM-spec replication, custom color painting and logo engraving, along with supporting full kits of vehicle-specific center bore rings and anti-theft lug nuts.

For performance enthusiasts, lightweight 6061-T6 forged wheels are offered, each weighing 4–6 kg less than stock cast wheels to significantly reduce unsprung mass and boost handling performance. For stance tuning lovers, wide-lip large-size forged wheel styles are available, all passing three mandatory tests: impact resistance, load bearing and fatigue durability.

On the distribution side, national chain tuning shops have completely removed uncertified no-brand wheels from shelves and uniformly source compliant forged products, forcing small and medium manufacturers to increase investment in testing equipment.
